New Plans for 2018

EDGET regularly exchanges ideas and discusses different strategies with our partner organisation Center of Concern in Awassa/ Ethiopia. This resulted during our project visit in January in the following:

- the Merle-Weik-Scholarship will be increased from September 2018 onwards from 15 to 35 (all in all then 120) GIRLS.
- The children-Transitional-Home for vulnerable children is ongoing. 3 new kids started last month.
- The shoe-shine-boys project commenced well, we are enthusiastic about it!
- Our classroom construction in KOKOSA / Oromiya started well and will be accomplished in March/April. In addition we are planning to improve the water and hygienic conditions.
- 2 tiny little schools in South Omo will receive some support (books and school furniture)
- One reason for the increasing number of streetchildren in cities are very poor rural areas. International donors are not present: for example in the region of GORCHE, 50 km from the regional capital Awassa. Here we are planning an integrated project of school improvement plus community development in order to prevent families to let their children migrate to the cities.

We will keep you informed via Newsletters (supporters) and website.
